Our 2011 Garden ~ Day 63

Our Garden as of yesterday:

Looks like the first thing we will be making is pumpkin pie!

I have learned gardening can be fun. I think I have always put it off because I have always thought if it as a chore and because I have always killed every plant I have ever had to take care of.

Happy Gardening!

Our 2011 Garden ~ Day 35

HSV Garden Challenge

Our Garden as of last night:

Pumpkins

beans, peppers, carrots, green onions, tomatoes, basil (still waiting for oregano and sweet peppers)

OK...so this is our first garden so forgive our naivety here but, one thing we didn't expect was for our plants to sprout WEEKS after their "sprouting" time that is on the back of the package!

We using the Preschool Garden Pack by Homeschool Creations and an Independent Study Garden Course through BYU to help us learn more about gardens.

We have learned that there is a LOT to learn about gardening! We have also learned that, just like people, plants develop at their own pace!

Happy Gardening!

Our 2011 Garden ~ Day 14

First signs of life in our garden!

Carrots!!!

Hopefully we will see more signs of life soon...unfortunately we are at the end of the sprouting window for most of the seeds we planted. So, we are going to try to start some plants indoors this weekend just in case.

Our 2011 Garden ~ Day 1

HSV Garden Challenge

Today we planted our garden. Neither hubby nor I have a green thumb so this should be interesting! We let the kids choose some and hubby choose the herbs and the hot peppers. We are going to try to grow tomatoes, basil, oregano, green onions, sweet peppers, carrots, hot peppers, beans and pumpkins. Here are some photos of our garden and planting today as well as a "map" of what was planted.

Hopefully our garden will look something like this in a few months! :)
Wish us luck!!!
