The Homeschool Mother's Journal


In my life this week…I have been taking it easy and preparing to go to Girl's Camp.
In our homeschool this week…we "did school" 3 days this week. We have been taking it slow as we get ready to start back "for real" in August!
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…I am going to Girl's Camp this week. Girl's Camp is where girls ages 12-17 from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints go camping for a few days. They have a lot of fun and learn a lot. It has been quite a few years since I have been to Girl's Camp (I was 16) and it should be fun!
My favorite thing this week was…house hunting. We are looking to move back to "the Valley" as it is called here. Specifically, Gilbert, Chandler or Mesa, AZ.
I’m grateful for…family.
I’m praying for…guidance (and patience).

    Haboob? Being from Maine, I've never experience anything like this! It's incredible...and scary looking! What do people do when these sand storms come through? Stay inside I would imagine! Enjoy camp! Stopping by from THMJ!

    Hi Jessy! Thanks for stopping by! The Haboob's really aren't too scary
    unless you are driving. Yes, mostly we stay inside and watch out the windows
    to make sure our outdoor stuff isn't blowing away! They are pretty amazing
    and only happen a couple once or twice a year just before the monsoon. This
    was one of the biggest to hit AZ since I have lived here (14 years)! Thanks

    Thank you for linking up to NOBH and welcome to our hop!  It's great to have you join in!  Love your blog header!  I hope you have a great time at camp!  I've never heard of haboobs or seen them.  That video did look scary and wild!  I can't imagine and the cars were still driving on the highways!  Do you get any warning that one of these is coming like we do here on the NC coast with hurricanes?  I hope you are enjoying your summer and hope to "see" you again at NOBH! :)

    Hi "A Slice of Smith Life"! Thank you! We do get warnings for the Haboobs
    but they are often too late for us because we live South of Phoenix and the
    warnings are for the Phoenix area. We usually get the warning while we are
    in the middle or end of the storm! ;) Thanks again!
