8:00~Mommy, Ladybug & Monkey have Preschool while Unicorn works independently (Religion, Math, Social Studies/English/Science/Art/Music, Silent Reading & Chores)

11:00~Lunch as a Family

12:00~Quite Time for Ladybug, Nap for Monkey and Mom works with Unicorn (if needed and then mom goes to work)on Typing, Latin & Writing and anything not finished in the morning

2:00~Free Time for Unicorn and Ladybug

3:00~Free Time for all

4:00~Afternoon Routine

5:00~Dinner

5:30~Evening Routine and Bed (Monkey in bed by 6, Ladybug by 6:30 and Unicorn by 7:30)

*I am very lucky that Unicorn learns best by herself. She comes to me when she needs help and we review what she has been learning as part of her bedtime routine.

I have found that my children respond best to a consistent routine. So we pretty much school Monday - Friday. Fridays are usually a light day of work, usually religion and math, and then we do something fun (park, field trip, grandma's house etc.)

  1. I seem to find a lot of homeschoolers start their days around 7am!

Great "Day in the Life"! Homeschoolers have so much fun. ...and you are very blessed for early to bed, too :)

Thanks for sharing and have a very enjoyable 2010-2011 school year!

  2. I am so impressed by your children's bedtimes!! At 8pm, I told mine to brush their teeth and get in bed with a book...my ten year old is still awake and keeps finding excuses (a loose molar) to talk to me.

Thanks for following my blog. I am following your as well. This is our first year of home educating. I am learning so much from the blogs of other home educators! Thank you!

  3. My daughter learns best by herself also. She comes to me with questions but pretty much does her work alone.
Thanks for sharing your "Day in the Life".
Hope 2010-2011 is a wonderful year!

  4. Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting! Hope you have a great year! I love that one of your kids' cyber-names is Ladybug - my daughter is ALWAYS pretending to be a ladybug. So cute!

  5. I'm also impressed with your early bedtimes. My toddler daughter is early to bed, but my boys' bedtime is between 8-8:30.

My first grader is turning out to be an independent learner, as well. It's nice to have time to spend with the other two.

  6. I love love love the early bedtimes. I remember when mine went to bed that early. It's very interesting to read how everyone fits it all in and to find another LDS homeschooler!

  7. Thank you for all the comments! They have early bedtimes because I find that it doesn't matter what time they go to bed they are ALWAYS up before 7 (usually 6:30) and I am a much nicer mommy when they go to bed early. :)

  8. I envy your early bedtimes. We read scriptures and have family prayer around 8pm. Followed by a chapter or two of a read-aloud. I'm considering bumping to an earlier time, but scouts and church activities start at 7pm. I'll have to ponder this a bit... ☺
